Orthotic Brace: Saebo Glove

The Saebo Glove is low profile hand and finger orthosis that assists patients with finger and thumb extension. The orthosis positions the wrist and fingers into extension in preparation for functional activities. The patient will need to be able to voluntarily flex their fingers and then extension system will assist with opening the hand to release the object. This device is indicated for patients with neurological conditions including but not limited to stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, MS, GBS, ALS and muscular dystrophy. In addition this orthosis also has benefits for patients with brachial plexus injury, radial nerve injury and individuals showing wrist drop or lack of voluntary finger extension. It should be noted this device is contraindicated for patients exhibiting increased tone/spasticity, severe contractures or joint angulation deformities of the fingers. Your orthotist will evaluate you to determine the appropriate device for you.
