The resting hand orthosis is a thermoplastic, palmer splint that immobilizes while positioning the wrist, fingers, and thumb in a functional hand position. These braces prevent contracture and hold the hand in a neutral position. The soft interface of these device increase comfort, while minimizing the risk of skin irritation. The straps can be tightened to snugly hold your hand in place without sacrificing comfort. Several options of this style of device are available as a static positional device or can be fit with a progressive positional device that can be adjusted based on your progress. This will be determined by your orthotist, or specifically requested by your physician or therapist.
Conditions: Contractures, wrist drop, radial nerve injuries/palsy
This brace helps to support weak or damaged parts of the forearm, wrist, and hand to improve functionality. It can be customized to better fit the patient by circumferentially tightening the brace. The breathable and soft material optimizes comfort while still providing the appropriate efficacy to support your wrist and hand. These braces can stabilize the wrist and prevent unnecessary flexion, extension, and rotation, providing protection and stability in all three planes of movement. There are a variety of types of wrist splints depending on the severity of your condition and your orthotist can work with you to determine which is best for your lifestyle and your diagnosis.
Conditions: carpal tunnel syndrome, post-operative stabilization after cast removal, wrist sprains and strains, arthritis and tendonitis of the wrist
The thumb spica is used for therapeutic immobilization of thumb injuries and keeps he thumb in a fixed position called the “glass holding position.” This brace allows for healing and also provides for a functional grip on certain objects such as a glass or a book. The remaining fingers are left active to prevent unnecessary stiffness. The brace is comfortable and provides appropriate support and stability to the lateral carpals.

Conditions: Gamekeeper’s thumb, selected scaphoid injuries, soft tissue injuries, DeQuevain’s Tendinitis, post cast healing, thumb sprains and strains
The Saebo Stretch Orthosis is a dynamic hand splint that will provide progress stretch of contractures over time. The splint helps to prevent joint damage while improving and maintaining range of motion. This device comes with interchangeable plates that provide difference levels of assistance for extension stretching. The orthosis will allow the fingers to move into flexion and then utilizes interchangeable stretch plates that will reposition the fingers into extension.
